In addition to teaching and performing, Naiara has a passion for chamber music and bringing classical repertoire to the general audience. She is a founding member of the Railyard String Quartet, based in Greensboro. This ensemble was created to develop the Classical Revolution movement in the city. The project’s goal is to bring classical music to diverse audiences, performing in non-classical music venues, like bars, coffee-shops, restaurants, and art galleries. In addition to the concerts for Classical Revolution, the Railyard String Quartet has performed across North Carolina and Virginia, covering a variety of repertoires ranging from Baroque to New Music to Jazz. The quartet has also actively collaborated with emerging contemporary composers playing in the 2017 SCI Region IV National Conference hosted by The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The quartet regularly performs in the Annual Chamber Music Crawl organized by the Eastern Music Festival every June in Greensboro. Some of their upcoming projects include recording and performing original music written for a ballet production and the 2018 EMF Chamber Crawl.
A native of Spain, Naiara holds degrees from The Royal Conservatory of Music 'Victoria Eugenia' in Granada (BM), and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (MM). She has studied with Delia Galan, Pablo Martos Lozano, and Fabian Lopez. In addition, she has participated in Masterclasses around the US and Europe playing for Kevork Mardirossian, Andres Cardenes, Richard Luby, Roland Daugareil, Mari Tampere-Bezrodny and Aaron Berofsky. In her free time, Naiara enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, hiking, and discovering new vineyards and breweries around the Triad area.
Naiara plays a violin made in Neuchatel in 2008 by acclaimed Swiss luthier Philip Girardin.
